Drought conditions across the United States as of October 3, 2017. While there was plenty of yellow—abnormally dry conditions—spread over the map, less than 10% of the country was experiencing full-blown drought of some kind. And only the plains of eastern Montana were experiencing exceptional drought (darkest red.)
