CHaMP helps residents face off against hazards
Three NOAA CAP/RISA teams (the former Carolinas, the Great Lakes, and the Mid-Atlantics RISAs) along with the NOAA-funded Northeast Regional Climate Center (NRCC) co-developed the Climate Hazard Mitigation and Planning (CHaMP) Tool with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN). The CHaMP tool is an interactive website that is designed to communicate potential vulnerabilities to residents and authorities responsible for mitigation along with helping local hazard mitigation, infrastructure, and land use planners integrate climate into their planning efforts. The tool provides users with a single point of access to county and regional specific historical climate and hazard data and projected climate information, displaying climate metrics, hazard data, and hazard impacts for downloadable data visualizations and explanatory text.
