Teaching Climate

This is an interactive video in which students navigate around a virtual island while learning about the characteristics of land formations and bodies of water.

This interactive simulation allows users to calculate their household carbon emissions based on travel, home usage, food, and shopping habits. Students will be alerted to how their usage and habits affect their total carbon emissions as compared to others in their zip code. Users are then provided a list of potential actions they can take to reduce their emissions.

This simple data visualization allows students to compare primary energy use and several other variables (carbon dioxide emissions, oil consumption) among different countries, including by OECD and non-OECD status. Students have the ability to toggle a handful of different ways to visualize the data, such as on a map, a bar chart, or a line graph.

Students describe the steps in a product life cycle assessment and suggest ways to reduce the environmental impacts of engineered products.

This visualization focuses on public acceptance of climate science. The set of interactive maps illustrates public opinion on a variety of climate beliefs, risk perceptions, and policy support. The data is from the Yale Project on Climate Communication and is updated every one to two years. The most recent data at the time of this record is 2023.

The outcomes are the use of less energy resulting in cost-savings on your energy bills.
