This is an excellent spring-board video for lessons. An instructor can break this video into specialized data sections to launch a myriad of activities - think of a web diagram with the video in the center. Since there is so much data presented in this video, it would be good to show it full length at first and then repeat it, stopping and restarting it, so the students could take accurate notes. By re-watching, restarting and stopping it will also allow students sufficient time to process the information individually or begin a small group/whole group discussion.

There is a high quantity and quality of data focusing on the effects of climate change in the U.S. Eastern, South Eastern and Coastal regions presented in this mini-lecture style video. A rigorous amount of data is sourced/referenced throughout this video lecture. In a video lecture-type format (with some cartoon animation) data is presented citing the effects of climate change in the US Southern Great Plains and Southwest states and coast lines. This video presents a large amount of statistics/data in a non-intimidating way and would serve as an excellent mini-lecture or as an anticipatory activity in a classroom setting. No prerequisite skills are required. The quality of the data presented is remarkable and definitely allows for a student to research one particular sub-topic (student choice-voice, differentiation, diverse learning styles) as a lesson enhancement, PBL project or interdisciplinary unit since the data presented hits all science fields, mathematics, statistics, geography, economics, urban development as well as many other content fields. This video will engage students, especially living in the US Southern Great Plains and Southwest. No teacher's guide is required. This video would provide a good introduction to the idea of regional affects of climate change. This video is part of a series of three videos focusing on different parts of the country, so teachers could use the video that is relevant to their students. It will help students understand how climate change will impact them directly or could lead to a discussion of what impacts students are seeing. The cartoons and animations provide an engaging visualization of the concepts. From a career and college readiness perspective, the scientist featured in this video is female and could be seen as a role model to underserved populations.
