• Teaching Tips
  The visualization could be useful for teachers to add to an existing lesson related to climate change. More background information about the tool can be found by clicking on the "about" icon in the righthand menu. Teachers with some knowledge in the science area will easily use this program and will be able to interpret the data. This can be included in students' class presentations or projects. Please note that you can locate the source of the data when you download the map data.
• About the Science
  The tool is interactive and shows weather patterns through history. The tool teaches users how to plan short- and long-term scenarios, raise awareness about climate change, make management decisions, and invest in infrastructure assets. This tool was developed by climate data specialists from World Energy & Meteorology Council, a trusted source. Overall the program provides good quality data and is very responsive. The program doesn't have all information from all countries but does for the vast majority. Passed initial science review - expert science review pending.
• About the Pedagogy
  Students can use the simulation to explore changes in climate-related variables over time (temperature, wind speed, rainfall, solar radiative power, CO2). Students can select specific countries to see how the selected variables change. In order to make use of the activity, students would need to understand how global temperature, rainfall, solar radiative power, and CO2 relate to climate change. Students would also need to be able to read graphs and interpret time series data.
• Technical Details/Ease of Use
  To make use of this visualization in a classroom, computers for each student or each group of students would be needed. A video guide about how to use Teal is available in a pop-up when users initially enter the tool.
