Kelvin Waves effecting Oregon Coastal waters
Permalink
As a teenager living on the Oregon Coast in 1955 (or 1956, I'm not certain) and every summer jumping into the ocean for a very quick, freezing swim, this one year we discovered two days in which the sea was so warm that we kids thought all our Christmases had come at once! On those two days, we spent hours in the sea. Then on day three, back came the usual cold water. Over time we mentioned this event to adults but most adults, when they were young, were too busy just making ends meet to go swimming. Only recently have I discovered the 'Kelvin Waves' and I'm interested in the possibility of such an event making itself evident in such a welcome manner. Has anyone else, out there, experienced such a phenomenon?
