I think where negative height anomalies persist, colder than normal surface temperatures prevail, which mean an increased potential for cold air outbreaks across the north central and northwestern parts of the United States....Why the addition of positive height anomalies in the North Pacific sets off a ripple effect farther downstream across North America ?
