RE: Nino 1+2 index sea surface temperature anomalies

Long range weather predictions fail miserably. I kept rainfall records for most of the last thirty-six years in Oceanside, Ca. From 1980-2000, La Ninas produced very dry conditions here, but starting in the 21st century, they have produced above rainfall here. Even though the Climate Prediction Center continues to forecast dry seasons in La Ninas and above average for El Ninos, they are usually wrong. There is too many factors in climate to predict accurately. While this La Nina may have produced expected weather in some places, this season has acted nothing like a La Nina in Southern California.
