Earlier in the year we had very cool and dry weather in Fort Worth. So cool and dry that my flowers and sod transplants noticeably underperformed. Then it got very hot and dry, and now it's warm and seemingly exceedingly wet. The plants are flourishing for the first time this year. I think all of this was consistent with SST patterns in the equatorial Pacific. In the 2011 La Niña Texas lost a very large number of trees to drought and fire (55 million trees in Harris County and the Lost Pine Forest all burned to the ground.) It was very very hot that summer.
