Sounds like we have a positive feedback loop. 1) Study above says change in weather pattern drives the reduction of sea ice 2) Less sea ice leads to a weaker Polar Vortex. So the arctic is warming primarily because weather patterns have changed. leading to less sea ice, which weakens the polar vortex and leads to the mid-latitude cold blasts? Is this this study falling short of saying that?
