La Ninas have brought the hottest summers on record to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex of the North Central Texas climate division. To wit, based on total 100-degree days, these are the hottest summers on record since 1899 during La Nina years: #1 in 2011, #3 in 1998, #4 in 1954, #5 in 1956, #6 in 2000, #12 in 2012, #15 in 1999, #17 in 2008, #18 in 2010, and #20 in 1985 - all in the top-20 of hottest summers here. Interestingly, the last moderate La Nina in 2011 had a hand in delivering that #1 hottest summer ever here in DFW.
