Interesting post with fascinating information that would reward being re-read.  So, thanks for writing it.

 

Here are my questions:

1) Can there be multiple Rossby waves in the Earth's atmosphere at the same time?  If so, what would cause them?

2) What happens if two Rossby waves run into each other?  Or, does this happen?

3) Do other planets or moons with atmospheres that we've observed in the solar system have Rossby waves?
