He told me when assessing the strength of ENSO events he doesn't just look at the SST temps in the Eq Pacific but also how the surrounding SSTs could strengthen the effect of La Nina SSTs. He told me just classifying La Ninas by Nino 3.4 temps was putting La Ninas effect in a box. Really interesting
